Shabbat Window

The Shabbat Window is the climax to all of creation and shows examples of all the things created.  Fish, plants, snakes and mammals are each rendered in sandblast etching and painting.  A cat peeks out of the composition at the viewer.Stars radiate in the sky.  Pomegranates bloom. A butterfly wings among the figs.  This window was completed in 1984.  After it's completion it was displayed at the Palos Verdes Art Center's exhibit of contemporary Judaica, before installation in 1985.The inspiration for the design comes from Abraham Joshua Heschel's idea of the Shabbat as the space in creation where one's spirit can refresh itself and relax from the hub-bub of a self-replicating, ever-expanding creation.
